明尼蘇達也正式進入冬天了
今天想來分享 美國職場上常用的英文單字跟片語
單字本身其實並不難 只是用法上會不太一樣
一起來看看吧
1. capacity
capacity本身意思是容量
在工作上 詢問別人有沒有空也可以用capacity
例如 “Do you have any capacity to help with this project?”
“I have capacity next week for this engagement.”
2. upcoming
中文意思為”即將到來的”
可以用來形容會議、活動、假期
例如 “upcoming busy season” “upcoming events”
最常見的就是用在請假
通常我們會習慣提前發請假通知給同事們
這時就會用”Upcoming OOO” (out of office) 當標題
內文則可以用”Please see my upcoming OOO below”
3. variance
只要你的工作是跟”數字”相關 那這個字絕對少不了
variance常用來表達數字間的差異
在會計工作裡 常常有對數字、對帳等工作
如果發現對不上或有差異 就可以用variance來形容
而除了variance 也會用difference來表示
“Do you know why there is this variance between the two numbers?”
“There is a variance between these two accounts.”
4. tweak
tweak有稍微調整的意思
適合用在做小修改、調整 但不到整個大修的程度
例如調整數字、文件格式等
“I need to tweak some numbers before I send to the manager.”
“Could you tweak this document and then reprint it?”
5. validate
validate意思為”生效”、”確認”
常用在操作電腦軟體 表達驗證、生成文件
“You’ll need to validate the report before you file it.”
“Make sure you delete the tab before validating the document.”
6. reach out
reach out to sb. 表示”詢問某人”、”向某人尋求幫助”
比起”ask someone” 更常會用”reach out to someone”
“Feel free to reach out if you have questions.”
“Please reach out to the technology team if you need help.”
7. touch base
touch base其實是從棒球術語衍伸而來
用在工作上可以表示為快速討論、溝通
例如工作分派完後 要再約時間討論、更新進度
就可以用touch base
“After you clear the comments, we can touch base and send it for review.”
“‘Let’s touch base next week.”
8. refer to
refer to是指查詢、參考
如果要表達參照、去看某個檔案或文件
就可以用refer to
“Are there any documents I can refer to?”
“You can refer to the prior year file.”
而refer to也有另一個意思 表示”提及某東西或事情”
“Where can I find the link you referred to in the meeting?”
9. hop on
hop on比較常用在打電話或是會議
例如 “hop on a call”、”hop on a meeting”
主要用於沒有事先安排、臨時需要打電話
或是非正式、自由參加的會議
另外也可以用”instant meeting”來表達
“Do you have time to hop on a call now?”
“Feel free to hop on the meeting if you have time.”
10. wrap up
wrap up本身有包裹、包覆的意思
也可以引申為做總結、結案
例如會議尾聲要做總結 或是case要結案
“Let’s meet tomorrow to wrap up this task.”
“We’ll wrap up the meeting in three minutes.”
